Besides my role as tenured research professor for digitalization & information management at the University of Applied Sciences Kempten, I am working for the Institute for Sustainable and Innovative Tourism (INIT) and I server as speaker and interview partner for conferences, radio and TV.
Projects
My team have been granted several applied research projects. Besides publicly funded research projects, my team and I support companies in meeting the challenges of digitalization and sustainability. Exemplary projects are:
- ODH@SIZ (2019-2022, funded by IuK Bayern of the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs)
- Development of machine learning algorithms for the prognosis of charging traffic at large scale charging stations
- Analysis of pricing models and design of incentives for the flexibilization of loading processes
- FEB-NAFV (2021-2024, funded by mFUND of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport)
- Development of machine learning models for a prognosis of crowding for visitor management
- Development of a bus-based mobility service to reduce individual motorized mobility at highly crowded points of interest
- Electric Mobility in rural regions (2022, comissioned by the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union)
- Identification of risks and opportunities for the ramp-up of electric cars in rural areas
- Examination of charging scenarios against the background of possible CO2 savings
- AIR (2022-2024, funded by KI-Leuchttürme of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection)
- Design, application, and analysis of nudging experiments for visitor management
- Design, application, and analysis of surveys on behavior and decision making of visitors
- Development of causal models for recommender systems
TV, Radio, and Speaker
Passing on my knowledge to the general public is part of my job as a professor. I have already been invited on television (ARD Morgenmagazin, BR Abendschau), on the radio (BR24, Bayern 3), and at various conferences and events as a speaker on topics related to digitalization and visitor management. I also run a podcast for bachelor students:
